ACC Sensitive Claims

Recovered Living NZ is contracted with ACC to provide fully funded residential care under Sensitive Claims (where the eating disorder is covered as a mental injury).

ACC approval is not guaranteed and requires a process. Timeframes vary, around 5–7 months if establishing a claim, or 3–4 months if already approved.

ACC Pre-Admission Process

• Ask your GP or therapist to refer you to ACC for RLNZ
• Once reviewed, ACC will be in touch and you can book a phone assessment
• Complete a medical form with your GP for review
• Attend an independent psychiatrist assessment arranged by ACC
• ACC will let you know if funding is approved

Due to increased demand, wait times have grown. To support timely care, ACC admissions begin with a 4-month residential stay, with possible extensions. Evidence shows stays of 90+ days lead to better long-term outcomes.
