Duration & Fees for the Recovered Living NZ Programme

Programme Duration

At RLNZ we offer a full continuum of eating disorder care. We require that clients begin treatment in our residential programme to build a strong foundation in recovery.  From here, clients gradually progress through to the day, partial, and outpatient levels of care to create a long-lasting and sustained recovery.

We pride ourselves on meeting you where you are at so there is no set length of stay in the Recovered Living NZ Programme. In order for you to get some traction in recovery the minimum length of stay in our Residential Programme is 4 weeks.  We have found that for highly motivated clients, an average time in Residential is around two - four months in order to create significant, sustainable change. For clients who have significant trauma, other complex mental health issues or considerable ambivalence about recovery, it may take more time to work through the levels in our programme. At the end of the day, recovery is an individual journey with individual timeframes.

Our Day & Partial Programmes are not compulsory; however they are recommended where possible, to give you the best foundation in your transition towards a recovered life.  The requirement to enter our Day Programme is completion of Level 4 of our Residential Programme.  In a ten year longitudinal study of the American based programme RLNZ is modelled from, the best indicator of sustained long term recovery was participation in the full continuum of treatment.

Hardship Subsidy Funding

We may at times have partial treatment hardship subsidies available, thanks to the generosity of donors who support our organisation.

These subsidies, when available, are for people facing hardship or barriers to treatment who can show they are not able to meet full residential programme costs.

The support that may be available reduces the cost of treatment for those who are eligible.  Depending on availability of funds, these subsidies can vary in their level of support.  There are still elements of client pay as we are not yet able to offer fully subsidised funding.  Please note subsidy funding is not guaranteed and each person’s case will be individually assessed.  Any funding offered is based on the wishes of donors who support our cause.  We encourage you to book a phone assessment so we can speak with you about your personal situation and provide you with an application form.
